Ramps 4 Housing for My Prusa I3. Disadvantages of the Original Fan: The original fan has several significant drawbacks. One major issue is its extremely loud operation, which can be a nuisance when trying to work with your printer. Additionally, the fan is designed to cool not only the hotend but also the print bed itself, which can lead to inconsistent cooling and reduced print quality. Replacement by a Low-Speed Fan 60x60mm: To address these issues, I've replaced the original fan with a low-speed fan specifically designed for this application. The COSTECH D06A04LWB is a 12V fan that measures 60x60mm in size. Key Specifications of the Replacement Fan: * Operating voltage: 12V (7...13V) * Current consumption: 80mA * Power: 0.96W * Speed: 2500 revolutions per minute * Noise level: 16.1 dB(A) * Flow rate: 23.3 cubic meters per hour * Connector type: 2-pin * Number of fan blades: 6 * IP rating: IP55 * Lifetime: 70,000 hours More Information on Fan Replacement for Prusa I3: For more detailed information on replacing the fan and installing the Ramps 4 housing, please visit the following link: http://www.kinder-technik.de/2015/08/prusa-i3-hepestos-luefter-tauschen-und-ramps-4-gehaeuse Mounting Holes for the Fan: The replacement fan has mounting holes spaced 50x50mm apart, allowing for easy installation. Mounting the Housing and Fan: To mount the housing, you'll need to use 3 M3 screws. For the fan, you'll require 4 M4 screws/nuts. The lid of the housing should be secured using 4 M3 screws/nuts. Printing the Cover with Support: Please ensure that you print the cover with support material to prevent any potential issues during assembly. Mounting Options for Ramps Housing: There are three possible mounting options for the Ramps housing: 1. Fasten Only the Housing on the Frame: This is the easiest option and requires minimal effort. 2. Attach the Arduino Mega with the Housing: In this setup, you'll attach the Arduino Mega to the housing before adding the Ramps Board. 3. Mount Ramps 4 + Arduino Mega + Housing: This is the most comprehensive mounting option. Ensure Cable Safety: When installing the fan, make sure that the cable does not come into contact with the fan blades to prevent any damage or electrical issues. Pressing Nuts for M3 and M4 Screws: If necessary, you can press the M3 and M4 nuts into the housing using some heat. The side walls of the housing are 2mm thick and should be able to withstand this process without breaking. Gap for LCD Cable: A gap has been provided in the design to accommodate the LCD cable. Optional Protective Grid for Fan: You may want to print a protective grid for the fan to provide additional protection against dust and debris. Important Safety Note: When installing the Ramps housing, please ensure that it does not press on the reset switch from Freeduino or Ramps. This could potentially cause damage to your printer's electronics. Possible Improvements: One potential improvement for future designs is to add a hole for the reset switch of Arduino/Ramps.
