This is a spool holder that makes it easy to create a simple spool roller using an 8 mm threaded rod, nuts, washers, and bearings - often included in Prusa kits from Semi-Utilitronic Industries. The design fits onto a 6 mm aluminum frame, but can be easily adapted for use with other frames; the OpenSCAD file is provided. Update: One drawback to this spool holder is that the filament may catch on the threads of the spool axle rod. Although I haven't noticed any damage to the filament as a result, it can sometimes get stuck and suddenly spring loose again. To avoid this, I've created a small lid or cover that snaps onto the axle rod, providing a smooth surface for the filament to move along. Print two short ones or one long piece and snap them onto the axle rod. Instructions: To assemble this spool holder, simply print as many as you need - I use three on my printer. Next, attach the holders to the frame using zip-ties, then secure the threaded rod to the holders with more zip-ties. You can also opt to print two pieces of the cover and snap them onto the axle rod if desired.
