An enhanced version of Philsson's 40 mm fan duct is now available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:184055. Noteworthy improvements include increased height at the two screw mounting slots and optimized airflow within the duct, which should result in better cooling for extruded material. The design also directs air flow more effectively around the nozzle, a modification that resolved issues with distorted herringbone gears from a Wade-style extruder. Additionally, the latest revision balances exhaust to match most 40 mm fans' clockwise spin. Further tweaks include an 8 mm by 15 mm opening aimed at providing cooling air for J-Head's PEEK body, potentially reducing chances of PLA jamming and benefiting ABS use (though cooling may be excessive with ABS).
