Prusa i3 extruder modified for MK8
thingiverse
This is an upgraded Prusa i3 x-carriage and extruder design. The original Prusa utilizes a smaller gear than commonly found, causing misalignment with the hotend entry when paired with standard parts. This modified version relocates the motor by 0.875mm to accommodate a 7mm gear (similar to MK8). The x-carriage is also included, as one of its holes shares a common mounting point with the motor. Other revisions include: 1) Adding a fitting for PTFE tube filament input (suitable for M6; I use a tap to cut threads) 2) Removing the PINDA probe mount (I prefer correct bed leveling) 3) Tweaking hole sizes and hex nuts exclusively (no square nuts) The optimal printing orientation should be apparent. I have closed holes requiring bridging for best print quality, so a drill bit will need to pass through these holes.
