NB NOTE: If you're experiencing issues printing my designs, please download them again. When we printed them for my printer, we encountered errors in the mesh on some of them. Asking Nettfab to auto-repair broke even more of them, including no M3 holes in the top of the corner pieces and the belt tensioner splitting into two parts by the slicer software. I had to manually fix every error and upload all the parts again. Thankfully, they seem to be fixed now. If you notice any other issues, please let me know so I can address them. My goal with this update is to achieve a stable chassis for the Prusa i3 printer that's as robust as possible. I wanted to upgrade my Y frame to 10mm, including both threaded rods and smooth rods, and also incorporate a positive capture of the smooth rods. Additionally, I aimed to be able to bolt the entire printer to a separate solid base, so the corner pieces have mounting pads. This led to modifying all the printed parts on the y frame. NB Note that these parts won't work independently on a standard printer as the threaded rod spacing had to change for them to fit. The whole frame is approximately 6mm taller than a standard frame. Although the spacing between the smooth rods and upper cross rods remains the same as standard, motor position and belt clamp shouldn't be significantly affected (though I might be wrong - only time will tell). However, the 10mm smooth rods will impact bearing placement and print platform spacing, so please check before committing. To Do List: The last part to create is brackets of some sort to bolt the Z axis frame to the same base. I'm still undecided whether they'll be incorporated into the lower Z motor mounts or if they'll be separate parts. Comments and critique are always welcome...... :) Cheers and enjoy.
