UPDATES 01.06.2021 Updated to also support STEP and F3D (Autodesk Fusion) file formats, welcome to use them for modifications. 09.02.2019 Figured out that my printheads are longer than the ones shown in the drawing. So I lowered the cooling mount by 5mm. The updated file is "50x50mm cooling V2- 5mm lower.stl". 27.01.2019 Added a second version of the cooling mount, "50x50mm cooling.stl". Implemented as many suggestions from ZeFrenchie (special thanks) as possible. 19.01.2019 Added CoolerMount.stl - located at back with single 40x40 fan. Needs further testing. 04.01.2019 Tested and adjusted the nozzle distance for dual color printing. Theoretical values are Y=0, X=27.55mm. Actual distance is Y=2.05mm, X=25.6mm. 03.01.2019 Added hotends and fans for visualization and designing of additional features. 02.01.2019 Installed on my Prusa i3 and tested it successfully. So far everything works as expected. 01.01.2019 Modified "Holder0 Bottom V2.stl" uploaded - tightened the rails to prevent unwanted hotend movement. INFORMATION I decided to upgrade my Prusa i3 to a dual extruder system, using Bowden extruders and two E3D V6 hotend clones. My hotends are not of the same length, so I needed an adjustable holder. I started by checking out this one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:694135 The adjustment was possible, but I wanted something easier to use with precise height control. Then I found this design: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:419159 It had a good idea of using screws for adjustment, but the nozzles were too far apart. So, I decided to create my own dual printhead mount for my Prusa i3, meeting specific requirements: * Lightweight * Nozzle distance as close as possible * Easy and precise height adjustment * Standard Prusa i3 X carriage mounting (M4 screws) * Place for calibration sensor - easy to swap out And this is the result of my "Slider" print head mount. It's still in progress, and I'm continuing to test its components. If you have some ideas or want some modifications, let me know!
