Prusa I3 Clone Dual Extruder (Modified)
thingiverse
Hi Everyone, After discovering a fantastic design for Dual Extrusion setup on Prusa Printers, I decided to give it a try with my GeeeTech i3 Clone. For the most part, everything fitted as expected, except for the Carriage Slider, which prompted me to create a spacer that could accommodate NEMA Motors measuring 34mm in depth while keeping the printer's frame intact. A .stl File is included with this design. Once I printed the Dual Extruder Mount, my slicer encountered difficulties with the arm mounts in the middle of the model. In response, I revised the underside to a simple rectangle that could be easily snapped out as a support. An updated .stl File is also available. My final adjustment was to the Idle Bearing Brackets, which initially seemed designed for Prusa i3 Bearings and hobbed gears. However, being a clone printer user with grooved bearings and copper gears, I had to modify the model of the bearing bracket to accommodate these components snugly within the dual extrusion housing. A .stl File for this design is included as well. Edit: On 2/29/18, I redesigned the BLTouch Mount on the previous design to be positioned in front of the two hot-ends rather than to their side. This change allows for the installation of side-mounted fans or ducts. All objects I printed at 45% infill have proven to be extremely sturdy. As there were no instructions provided with the original model, I've been experimenting as I go and welcome any questions from those who might appreciate some guidance on this extruder setup.
