Prusa i3 belt tensioner (and other printers should work)
pinshape
I'm making adjustments to my clip-on belt tensioning system. All these types of temporary fixes cause vibrations in the belt, which can feed back into the print and affect quality. A proper stationary tensioning system is needed for high-quality prints. Version 2 of this design has been uploaded today, July 13, 2016. It's lighter and slightly shorter than the original version. When I tested it at high speed, I noticed small movements caused the belt to vibrate and the tensioner knocked into the carriage belt holder. The noise was annoying but didn't cause any damage. I took inspiration from another design, which added too much tension to the belt. To fix this issue, I created a lower-tension version of the clip-on belt tensioning system. It has just the right amount of tension on the belt, making it easier to install and preventing excessive strain on the printer's system. When installing this system, be sure to vacuum around the printer to prevent dust from accumulating and affecting print quality.
