Prusa i3 and similar models X Carriage
thingiverse
I'm working on a Prusa mod for my friend's Chinese machine, which has a carriage attached by three SC8UU holders - not an ideal setup, so this is the first of many changes I'll be making and sharing here. Does it work? Absolutely, perfectly. What do you need to make it work? You'll need 4 x M3 x 30 screws for the belt tensioners, 4 x M4 x 20 for the hotend carriage, 2 x M3 nuts for the belt tensioners, and 2 x M5 x 8mm for the belt tensioners. By the way, I've secured the bearings to the carriage. Future updates/mods: Direct Driver, Double Extruder carriage (I'm not sure why this makes sense, but I'll add it), the ability to carry a laser for engraving or a pencil and more, implementing the Y Axis, and others. Changelog: Published on January 30, 2016 Feel free to comment, ask questions, and try it out - your feedback will help optimize the project. Print Settings: Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3 Infill: 15% Notes: I printed this in low quality, but it works; however, I recommend a higher infill percentage and possibly 0.2 layer height for better results.
