I wanted to relocate my spool to the top of my printer, so I designed this innovative solution. It's specifically engineered to hold one or several filament spools securely atop the Prusa frame mounted onto sturdy 8mm threaded rod. This design feeds directly into the extruder, which is also expertly mounted to the top of the frame for seamless integration. The threaded mount features an open top, allowing users to lift the entire spool off without disassembling the mount. For those who need to adapt their internal spool reel to 8mm threaded rod, I recommend checking out my desktop filament holder at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2063287. If you're interested in the extruder mount showcased here, visit http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2068108 for more information. The prototype was printed with a 15% fill ratio, but I advise increasing this to at least 30% for larger than 1kg spools or multiple spool configurations to ensure structural integrity. Print Settings: Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: To fit the piece on the print bed, I had to rotate it by 15 degrees.
