Prusa Handles & Rod End Caps

Prusa Handles & Rod End Caps

thingiverse

An update includes a second end cap to the originally designed snap-on handles for carrying Prusa Mendel without discomfort. These handles have an ergonomic curve that makes holding easier and also covers the ends of the threaded rods. Additionally, snap-on screw-on end caps are added for safety purposes, especially during demonstrations where little kid's eyes get too close to the sharp ends. The rounded end cap has an internal diameter of 8mm and a material thickness of 2mm that provides a snug fit but with a weak wall. On the other hand, the octagonal one has an internal diameter of 8.25mm and a 1.9mm wall. Interested individuals can have their own settings tweaked by contacting the creator for a clean-up of the code and posting it as well. The print settings used include slic3r 0.9.5, Marlin, and j-head 0.5mm with cheap 3mm "repraper" PLA filament from China, printed onto glass covered with window tint using ABS juice and heated bed at 90 for the first layer and 75 for additional layers. The print settings also include two perimeters, 10% honeycomb infill, and 0.4mm layer height. Hot end temperature depends on color but is usually around 185.
