Prusa Filament Out Sensor
thingiverse
12/30/17 Update This part enables direct filament out sensing by the Prusa Mini-Rambo 1.3a board. For implementation details, refer to the section below. Note that this requires a non-standard firmware load. Up until now, I have found no items supported by Prusa 3.1.0 firmware that are not also supported by this modified firmware. This modification provides the benefit of supporting filament out sensing when printing from the SD card in addition to OctoPrint. This Prusa i3 MK2(S) Filament Run Out Sensor detects filament exhaustion and triggers a Filament Change using the M600 command. After the filament is changed, printing resumes at the point of interruption. This design relies on Octoprint to process Pause, Filament Change, and Resume commands. Other applications can utilize this accessory as long as they rely on GPIO4 (Board Pin 7) to signal filament exhaustion.
