Prusa Bear Y-Rod Holder no zipties (only screws)
thingiverse
Hi! This thing is a custom Y-axis rod holder for the Prusa Bear upgrade, without relying on zip-ties. Two M3 x 14 screws securely hold the rod in place. I printed this part using Polycarbonate with settings that include four perimeters, eight layers at both the top and bottom, and thirty percent infill. Although the clamp is rather thin on top (1mm), I used Polycarbonate to ensure strength and avoid sharp corners that can accumulate stress when clamping the rod in place. A 0.2mm tolerance between the main body and the clamp ensures pressure from the screws is mainly discharged at the top of the rod, where it's needed. This design has several advantages: it's stronger than a single zip-tie and has a cross-section three times larger at its thinnest point. As a result, this part will stay securely in place without risking loosening due to heat or stress. Let me know what you think about this design and any suggestions for improvement!
