Prusa 3 Vanilla Upgrade with Pololu Stepper Motor (Part 2268) The original design of the parts is courtesy of Josef Prusa. You can find it on his GitHub page: https://github.com/josefprusa/Prusa3-vanilla. I am sharing only the STL files, as I believe they are sufficient for this upgrade. If someone ever requests them, I will provide the SCAD files as well. As of now, I am using this setup on my printer and it works great. However, I wouldn't say that this is a game-changing upgrade. It's more of an incremental improvement that offers faster z movement and a sturdier z/x system. It looks really cool, but the installation process was quite challenging. You'll also need to be careful not to misalign it when homing the printer. To prevent this issue, I plan on adding a second z-stop switch for each motor, so both sides are engaged during homing. This is a simple solution that will stall one motor until they both hit their ends, but it's a good compromise since the design limits racking to around 1.5mm. After installing these linear rods for the z-axis, I noticed they extend about 37mm above the top of the printer. When I first started using this setup, I was concerned that the shafts might jam due to their fixed position within the motor. However, the Tr8x8(P2) lead-screws work perfectly with the included traveling nut, allowing for angular deflection without compromising positioning.
