For a budget-friendly option, obtain a $3 16x2 LCD on eBay and connect it to your Melzi board with just some wires. To enhance the display further, consider adding a 20x4 LCD, buzzer, or rotary click decoder/buttons; 20x4 LCDs can be found for $10. However, a 16x2 LCD suffices to show temperatures and status effectively. The latest Marlin firmware from GitHub is recommended, as previous versions had issues with 16x2 LCD control.
