Proxxon Vise to Drill Press Mounting Plate
thingiverse
I created this jig as part of a project for a friend who borrowed my Proxxon vise to work on his own project. The Craftsman drill press base is quite standard, so I designed it to fit snugly into the mounting plate's groove. To make the process smoother, I had to heat the edges and snap it in place. The result allows you to bolt the vise down to the drill press base securely. The tricky part was getting the vice bolted to the mounting plate due to its design. So, I came up with two versions. One is flat and provides clearance, but it doesn't have any holes for bolts. Instead, I had to drill holes and thread bolts into it, but I'm not sure how strong it will be under stress. The other version has holes for the vice but sits a bit higher. You can find the design part of this project on Thingiverse at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2154119. If you're looking to purchase the vise, check out Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000S81MHY. I made these nearly a year ago, and my friend has been using them for his project. He's even made multiple lowers with them, and they're still working well! I'm excited that this jig made things easier for him. Here are the print settings I used: * Printer Brand: Printrbot * Printer Model: Printrbot Simple Metal * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2mm * Infill: 35%
