This thing is designed for the small Proxxon KS-230 desk circular saw. It creates a holder for a more powerful brushless DC motor that replaces the weak stock 80-watt AC motor. Those DC-motors can be found in RC-models, mostly planes. Some electronic regulators are required to buy, one for providing high amperage power and the other for regulating shaft speed. The idea came from someone who presented their mod on YouTube, but they want to make money from it. So I've built a fresh model. Have fun. The files: - The DXF file contains the two-dimensional drawing. - The OpenSCAD file that imports the DXF-file for extrusion. The small holes are intended to be 5mm, and the one in the center is 12.5mm. Update: I've added $fn=100; to the first line of the OpenSCAD file to force it making the imported holes round. - The STL-file is ready for printing with perfect holes. - If you have access to a CNC router, make that thing from metal; highly recommended. What's next: - If you have a motor that fits - fine. Simply print out the STL-file. - If you're adapting the plate for other dimensions, take the DXF file and do what you want with it. Eventually, I've made the STL from 123Designer loading the DXF file in and added the chamfers. If you're not using 123design or similar 3D CAD (for the chamfered holes): The chamfers can be made manually if you print out a solid from the extruded DXF file. OpenSCAD can export the extruded DXF file to STL. Take the same regular tools used for making sunken holes when working with wood. Choose very low speed or turn the tool by hand. As of writing, the program files can be downloaded from here: - 123design installer for Windows http://autodesk-123d-design.en.lo4d.com/download - If you've purchased 123design for OSX (at no charge) earlier, you can download it from the Appstore again. - QCad (OSX, Windows, Linux) https://www.qcad.org/en/qcad-downloads-trial The free trial remains the full basic version without CAM-plugins after the trial period. - OpenSCAD DL (OSX, Windows, Linux) http://www.openscad.org/downloads.html The manufacturer's multilingual installation manual (stock motor) http://downloads.cdn.re-in.de/800000-824999/823004-an-02-de-TISCHKREISSAEGE_KS230_PROXXON.pdf View of the stock motor with mountplate https://www.fluidonline.de/item/images/1686/750x1000/1686-prox-27006-06-motor-ks230-1.jpg Buildlog make the KS230 anything good for now http://www.rc-network.de/forum/showthread.php/346226-Umbau-einer-Proxxon-KS230-auf-brauchbar He added two new sunken holes at a swiveled line to the stock mountplate and turned down the 8mm motor shaft to 6mm on a lathe.
