Convert your Proxxon MF70 3-axis micro mill into a CNC mill by attaching these motor mounts, sourced from Ebay for 25mm long CNC couplers. These couplers should have mill ends at 4.5mm and motor ends at 5mm. If you can't find 4.5mm couplers, drill them to the required size. The handwheels of the mill are removed; in place of these, use PTFE spacers or brass collars that take the load instead of a separate collar. Attach X- and Y-axis motor mounts with longer self-tapping screws, Z-mount with M3x35 screws. After fixing all the mounts and couplers, fit NEMA17 motors with 20mm shafts using M3x12 screws. Use RepRap electronics and configure it to have 200x16 (16 being microstepping value) steps per mm, maximum speed 300mm/min and acceleration 1000 or 2000mm/s² with software movement limits disabled if not using endstops. For G-code production, use PyCAM or Heekscnc as CAM program; Marlin 1.0.0rc2 accepts it after minor postprocessing. Replace stock slide bearings with MR126 ball bearings for better results. The motor mounts are STL files and can be checked and rotated in netfabb before use.
