The Providence-class carrier/destroyer, also known as the Dreadnaught-class command ship and the Trade Federation cruiser, was a series of massive capital ships fielded by the Confederate Navy during the Clone Wars. Initially produced and used by the Trade Federation, hence its nickname, these ships were designed to be capable of holding a planetary blockade almost single-handedly. The largest Providence-class vessels measured 2,177.35 meters in length, making them some of the biggest warships in the Separatist fleet. Rising from the stern of each vessel was an elongated main communications and sensor pod, giving these ships a distinctive appearance. Operated by 600 droids but commanded by sentient officers, Providence-class ships were designed to be capable of landing on water in case of emergencies, like all Mon Calamari and Quarren designs. The rounded, pseudo-organic aesthetic of these capital ships was influenced by the planet Dac. These massive warships, with their pointed noses and tapered superstructures, were a formidable sight on the battlefield. Designed by the Quarren Free Dac Volunteers Engineering Corps, the Providence-class ships were a testament to the ingenuity of the Confederate Navy's engineers. With their advanced technology and massive size, these ships were a force to be reckoned with during the Clone Wars.
