Protowrapper RB1 - Modular rod building system
thingiverse
The Protowrapper RB1 is a modular rod building system that uses 80/20 aluminum as the base. It was designed to be built using easy-to-source materials that can be purchased at the hardware store. Please provide feedback for improvements. Current design is for hand-wrapper. A drying-motor and chuck is in development and will be released shortly. I sourced all the screws/nuts based on what already had and what I could locate at HomeDepot, hence the mix of SAE/Metric. Bill of materials: Roller Arms 6x #120 O-rings (1 3/16 OD) 6x #10-32 1 inch round machine screws 6x #10-32 nylon lock nut 4x #10-32 1 1/2 inch round machine screws 4x #10-32 wing nut 4x #10 washer 4x M3 hex nut (can use SAE but could only find metric t-slot nuts) 4x T-slot nuts 2x ~24in 30x30 aluminum extrusions (https://us.misumi-ec.com/vona2/detail/110302686540/?HissuCode=KHFSF6-3030-4000) Thread Carriage 1x Sewing Tensioner (for thread carriage) (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B8B31YKJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) 1x #8-24 2 inch machine screw (any long machine screw will work) 1x #8 wing nut 2x nylon spacers See annotated image for assembly. Updates: I added an STL for mounting a synchronous motor. It is still a WIP, but was designed to fit with something like this (https://www.amazon.com/CHANCS-Synchronous-15-18RPM-Rotation-Fireplace/dp/B07N3TG77V/ref=sr_1_45?crid=1FYKETBV3BL4G&keywords=rod+drying+motor&qid=1684027646&sprefix=rod+drying+motor%2Caps%2C91&sr=8-45) along with a 3d printed chuck.
