Prototype Load Testing Machine
myminifactory
This is the prototype printed version of my mechanical load frame, designed to demonstrate a single assembly. I have deliberately kept it as a single unit for your viewing convenience. Unfortunately, I am not yet prepared to recommend that others build this model due to unresolved issues with adhering steel to ABS and integrating steel plates without excessive preparation work. The technique used in gluing metal sheets to printed parts is known as composite sandwich construction. For more information on this specific design and my plan for mechanically testing 3D printed specimens, please visit http://engineerdog.com/2015/03/26/3d-printing-materials-testing-series-part-1-the-problem-the-plan-and-the-prototype/.
