prototype for core XYX printer
thingiverse
I am the creator of this design for my Ultimaker-based printer, featuring two X carriages. After printing is complete, I break down the Bill of Materials (BOM) to understand what's needed for the XYX mechanism: 4 stub coins with a structural axis, 3 slides with default axes, 2 Y slides with contrived axes, 1 X slide with controlled axes, and 6 bearing supports for transmission with axes. To design this printer, I aimed for a specific goal - to create something different. My vision is for the printer to be cubic in shape, making it more foldable and complete. I also envisioned a Cartesian setup, combined with dual X carriages for added functionality. The extrusion system can utilize plastic or paste, while the case is laser-cut from MDF 6mm material, ensuring a sturdy base. To achieve smooth movement, all axes are equipped with threaded rods. Now, let's dive into the custom section of this project. I've utilized several key components, including NEMA17 motors and 16x worm reducers designed by kamilkrzywda, as well as the WormStruder mechanism created by takigama.
