Prototype Bearing One Print
thingiverse
This is an early prototype of a bearing that operates right out of the printer bed, designed to prevent accidental opening and loss of ball bearings. The small protrusions were included to provide excellent grip, requiring a considerable amount of torque to dislodge the balls. Unfortunately, when I printed it, the tolerances turned out too tight, causing the balls to get stuck inside. Despite this, I managed to get the bearing spinning, but the motion was not smooth due to several broken balls. If the design is scaled up, it's likely that the gaps will increase and the balls will easily fall free without sustaining damage.
