ProtoSpinners
thingiverse
You will need to print one spinner body and two of either no_spacer_end_cap.stl, push_end_cap.stl, or spacer_end_cap.stl. The file not_good_caps.stl is a center bearing thumb cap that's suitable for short models, while better_center_bearing_thumb_cap.stl would be better for the longer ones. Here are the ProtoSpinners - my first-ever 3D CAD creations. Be gentle with me, please! I designed them to give users with small hands more access to the end bearings, making it easier to roll them with their thumbs or on a surface like a table or pants leg. The first ProtoSpinner I made was the V1.11. Then I created the ProtoShort, which has a shorter center bearing body. Finally, there's the ProtoFreak - an oddity born from trying to fix a design flaw that resulted in a weird blade shape. Don't worry about my name on the model; it's barely visible when printed, and the bearing covers most of it. If you have any suggestions for improvement, please share them! I'd also be happy to upload the files without supports if your slicer can handle them better. Print Settings: Printer: MP Select Mini Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: .2 Infill: 20% to 30% (All mine are 30%) Notes: I've printed all of this at .2 with no raft and no support, except for the built-in ones. Some little end caps may have adhesion issues, so print them separately or with a raft/brim. I've added supports to the model - they're not perfect but better than what my slicer produced. Use needle nose pliers to remove the supports carefully; the cylinder ones are tricky. ProtoShort has an additional support under its center body. The caps should work fine, but keep in mind that each set is for one side of the spinner and you'll need two sets - one for each end bearing. The only exception is not_good_caps.stl, which is a thumb cap for the center bearing. (Update 3/4/17) I've added ProtoFreakShort, which combines the Freak with the short center body. I've also included better_center_bearing_thumb_cap.stl, which is taller and better suited for longer models. All previous models now have updated cylinder supports that should be easier to remove. I designed these using Autodesk Fusion 360.
