Protector for MTR3B Mountain Topper Ham Radio
thingiverse
Protector for the switches and face plate on Steve Weber's (KD1JV) amazing MTR3B three band QRP Mountain Topper ham radio now sold by LNR Precision. Several people complained about breaking their switches during transport in a Yahoo group. This protector prevents that from happening. Note that the blocks along the inside ends support it on the black ends of the U shaped base plate. No part touches the radio's blue face plate. If pressure is applied to the middle of the protector, the round pad in the middle takes the load, but it normally doesn't touch the radio's face plate. The weight is less than 1oz. I printed it in PLA, but consider ABS if you leave it out in the hot sun during a SOTA activation. You may want to adjust the tension of the 2 clip ears by warming them over a candle and bending in slightly. I uploaded MTR_3B Mountain Topper Protector_Larger Clips.stl on 8/16/2016. This has larger ears to grab the bottom of the MTR3B better. They overhang, but my ROBO3D prints them okay without any support material in ABS with the fan off.
