The Osetr class were a group of submarines commissioned by the Imperial Russian Navy during the Russo–Japanese War. Built under emergency orders issued in 1904, these vessels were engineered by Simon Lake, an American designer who incorporated innovative features such as wheels for mobility on the ocean floor and specialized wet/dry chambers for divers to operate safely. One notable Osetr class submarine was actually a former vessel known as Protector, which Simon Lake had previously sold to the Russians before reassembling it in Russia. When operating at maximum depth, these submarines could dive to around 30 meters (98 feet). The Osetr model offers full access to its internal components, allowing users to customize and modify it to suit their specific needs.
