Protective Face Shield with Wider Coverage to Temples, covered top
prusaprinters

This is a remix of the Prusa Protective Face Shield RC2/RC3 to extend the face shield so that it wraps around closer to the temples to provide more side protection, and adds an integrated top cover similar to the Prusa top cover. I also removed the hex holes for better printability, lowered height of the shield attachment headband to save on material and improve print speed, and changed hole pattern for a wider 14"W x 10"H shield.

Print instructions

A template is included to cut from 10”x14” material, with holes punched with a regular sheet hole-puncher (prints 1:1 scale on 11"x17"). For the face shield, I am using .020" thick PETG (I was previously using office transparency material, but found that bleach makes it cloudy).

For the 3D printed parts, I use PETG filament (0.25mm layer height with a 0.4mm nozzle, 60 mm/sec print speed, 245C, 30% fill, no supports). I was previously using TPU since it is more flexible and comfortable, but it is not as resistant to hospital cleaning agents as PETG (reference https://getusppe.org/makers/face-shields/)

For the elastic strap, I am using non-latex rubber bands (7 or 8", like latex-free https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00125SF40/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_peVEEbPNYVY1C $7 USD for 175 pcs). Latex should be avoided due to latex allergies.
