Prosthetic Hand Attachment : I Phone Holder
thingiverse
Hello everyone! My name is Rachel Thompson and I'm an engineering major at Seattle Pacific University. I conceptualized, engineered, and 3D manufactured this innovative prosthetic hand attachment that enables amputees to securely hold a cell phone with their prosthetic limb (designed by SPU). My design consists of two primary components: the lower piece, which seamlessly integrates into the prosthetic hand, and two extended arms that slide into the upper component. When combined, these two parts form a robust mechanism capable of holding a cell phone in place using a rubber band attached to hooks on the back sides of both pieces (as depicted in the accompanying photos). This rubber band generates the necessary tension required to secure the phone within the mechanism. The design is straightforward and effortless to print; simply download my files, print the top and bottom separately, and you're ready to go! IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Please note that the photographs displayed are of version 1.0, while the files provided are for version 2.0, resulting in a slightly different appearance upon printing. Nevertheless, there's no need to worry – version 2.0 boasts significant improvements! Additionally, I'd like to mention that this model is specifically designed for iPhone 6 and 6 plus devices; however, it can be easily resized to accommodate larger phones and tablets as well! Enjoy your printing experience, and happy manufacturing! Printer Settings: * Printer Brand: Printrbot * Printer: Simple Black * Rafts: No * Supports: Yes * Resolution: Feel free to experiment with different settings (I used a relatively low resolution). * Infill: 20% Notes: Printed with black 1.75mm PLA at 205 degrees Fahrenheit, which proved beneficial in producing high-quality prints. Due to the constraints of my small printer, I encountered difficulties printing the entire length of the arms on the lower piece. Therefore, I recommend utilizing a larger printer or adjusting the dimensions of the arms according to your preferences.
