The Castor IVA solid motor powered a sounding rocket that took to the skies in 1991. This was its maiden and final voyage. The Joust-1 payload was on board, but disaster struck just 15 seconds into flight when the rocket veered off course. Its journey ended abruptly as Range Safety intervened, destroying the wayward rocket.
