Prop Balancer
thingiverse
This is a compact single-piece prop balancer that accommodates up to 10" props and spins them seamlessly around. I opted for a one-piece design to ensure perfect alignment and accuracy, sacrificing some portability and storage space in the process. For compatibility, you'll need to pair it with http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BHK54W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (or similar figertip balancers with an axle length of approximately 1.92in/48.8mm). To get started, you'll also require some strong neodymium magnets; the 1/4" ones found here - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012AUU84/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - work well. **Instructions:** Once you've got your components ready, follow these simple steps: Print out the balancer with a medium ABS plastic infill at 3 layers on top and bottom. Next, insert the magnets into the slots - hot glue sticks are recommended but any adhesive will suffice. Finally, pair the prop balancer up with your propeller, then spin and balance to perfection. To ensure secure and precise mounting, we suggest sanding down a thin layer from the backside of the prop instead of using tape. From a material science standpoint, this method is safer; you can remove less material, be more precise in your efforts, and still get great results aerodynamically.
