Promega Hemera Extruder Mod

Promega Hemera Extruder Mod

A relatively straightforward mod, inspired by ShadowHawk69's excellent ShadowMega XY Motion System found here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4077549 to make the M3D Promega a more reliable printer. I tried to use as many original Promega parts as possible, in order to maintain the original appearance of the printer and keep costs down as much as possible. This mod requires a new XY end-stop bracket that houses both end stop switches (I suggest printing it in >50% infill TPU so it has a bit more flexibility to insert the switches, but is still rigid enough - not loose, not crazy tight) , and a few pieces of hardware as well. Here's what you'll need: 1ea 18-gauge Galvanized Steel Angle, which I bought at Home Depot https://www.homedepot.com/p/Simpson-Strong-Tie-ZMAX-18-Gauge-Galvanized-Steel-Angle-A23Z/100375310 and drilled to attach it to the Linear Rail Carriage. 1ea 500mm 1515 Aluminum Extrusion, which will need to be cut to size. I got four on Amazon - just in case I messed up the cut. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHQ1479/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 1ea 450mm long Linear Rail. I got mine on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZDRXVXJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 1 pack of Stainless Steel M3 Square Nuts, which I bought on Amazon (100 pieces). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XPFLNBS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 1 pack of M3 Steel Self-Lock Nylon Nuts, also from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075ZZW7VL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 1 box assortment of M3 screws, which I got on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GVV9Q82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 2ea M4 10mm screws 2ea M4 Steel Nuts 2ea M3 25mm Screws 2ea M3 30mm Screws A 5V small blower fan, if you want to use my parts-cooling shroud. I got these in Amazon: 2 Pack Wathai 30mm x 10mm 5V Small DC Brushless Cooling Blower Fan https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RMGVBKL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It doesn't blow as much air as a bigger blower fan, but for me it is enough... at least for now. While not a must do, I also added heat sinks to the MCU steppers, added two 5V Noctua Fans to help keep the steppers cool and avoid layer shifts, and replaced the original Power Supply with a MEAN WELL SE-450-24 AC-DC Power Supply Single Output 24V 18.8 Amp 451.2W version. The heat sinks and Noctua Fans mod I got can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/MEAN-WELL-SE-450-24-Supply-Single/dp/B005T6NNKO/ref=pd_ybh_a_8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=Y5SDM2QJEP0XWPR1Y4PN If you want to run the filament inside the cable chain, DO NOT reuse the original Promega PTFE tubes. I don't think they are slippery enough! I got better PTFE tubing here: https://www.amazon.com/Meters-White-Teflon-Bowden-Filament/dp/B01CUPV9KC/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=2mm+id+4mm+0d+ptfe+tubing&qid=1587753150&s=industrial&sr=1-5 I think that should be it, but if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a message.
