This building was created as part of an urban renewal plan for a "favela" in Brazil. This model is completely sustainable and rich with structural and furniture details. Developed during the study period at the University, this architectural project has a strong social component and was designed for the periphery of Presidente Prudente, São Paulo. The central idea is to bring the "formal" city into the "informal" city, or to say, bring services, education, and culture to this needy neighborhood. To achieve this goal, a design was chosen that takes advantage of permeability so people can easily enter the cultural building without feeling intimidated by it. In addition, simple execution technology was used making possible public participation in the construction process, increasing the sense of belonging to the city. The building was also designed to be energy-efficient and sustainable through the use of solar panels.
