Project Dusty Nails
thingiverse
I don't expect that anyone will re-create this; but I wanted to document this as a reason everyone should have some CAD skills and a 3D printer. My wife does her own nails, which often involves filing stuff she shouldn't breath into her lungs. We also got a smoking good deal on a new vacuum we couldn't pass up since our old vacuum was approaching end of life. Since the motor on the vacuum is still functional, I stripped the vacuum to the body only, and printed some parts to make it a nail dust collection system under her craft desk. Some design choices explained:Rather than try to cut the motor shaft off I just printed a cover for it.I got the idea after seeing a floor drain cover in the hardware store. Since I impulsively bought it when I saw it, I used that instead of printing my own.I wanted to recess this into the nook meant for her sewing machine. Sewing or nails kind of situation. Thats why the hose adapter immediately 90s under the desk.
