A friend of mine acquired one of these cheap no-name USB webcams (brand "licyley" but it also comes as "usogood", "COOAU" and most likely some more random names) to get some COVID homework done. But unfortunately it comes without a lens cover and since he's probably not ok with unintentionally broadcasting... whatever he does in front of his monitor, he asked me for some lens cover which is more than just a sticker. A professional lens cover. So I created this atrocity which also serves the purpose of making him smile - or maybe frown - whenever he looks into the camera. Also I wanted to add spring mechanisms to it since springy gadgets are at least 50% more fun - which is also one of the reasons why it looks the strange way it does. But the spring really makes the lid operate snappy and it stays up and it even has some snap-latch-thingy to keep it closed for no exact reason. It's really professional. Print Settings Printer Brand: Wanhao Printer: Duplicator9 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0,24mm Infill: 100% Filament: Extrudr PETG, GreenTec transparent, black Notes: Both parts are pretty flimsy, so something forgiving like PETG is a sane choice. First I also printed the lid in transparent PETG which can be used as a softening-filter or diffusor... which most likely is pretty useless on a webcam. I printed it very rough and recommend printing it in a finer resolution to make the spring mechanism operate smoother. Use supports! Category: Computer
