I crafted a portable storage container for my creative tools, as I often travel with them. To create this canister, you can use either a plain or ornate design, reminiscent of traditional Chinese motifs seen in the image. The "Cannister_Lid_fancy" .stl file contains just the lid, featuring an indentation to securely attach the Longevity symbol. The phrase on the panels reads: "种一棵树最好的时间是十年前." This translates to "The best time to plant a tree was 10 years ago." The next line states, "其次是现在," or "The next best time is now." Research suggests that this Chinese proverb may not be authentic, but its message remains strong for individuals who struggle with procrastination. I included the Longevity symbol on the lid, as procrastinators often feel they lack sufficient time. Print Settings: Printer: Polyprinter 229 Rafts: Not required Supports: Yes Resolution: 50 or higher Infill: 12.5 or higher Notes: This print job will be lengthy, with a minimum of 6-9 hours required for the lid and base alone. Although supports are not technically necessary due to the design's angles being less than 45 degrees, I used them to prevent sagging filaments in the insert guides. Post-Printing: To assemble the Chinese panels, follow this order: The decorative panels were attached using epoxy, as I wanted a strong bond for the container's durability. Typically, I use super glue due to its cost-effectiveness and ease of use; however, given the canister's intended use in my backpack, I opted for a more robust adhesive. An acetone bond could also be effective in this application.
