PRO cable chain end
thingiverse
After printing my own cable chain and getting thoroughly disappointed with the results, I finally gave in and purchased some high-quality Igus cable chain. It's certainly pricey, but you really do get what you pay for. I crafted this small end piece that fits perfectly into the hole in the sheet metal where the wires pass through. Next, I took one of the Igus links and drilled a 2mm hole right through it. Then, I bolted everything together and was pleased to find that it fits remarkably well. The link with the mounting hole is actually positioned backwards from the rest of the links, but they still fit together seamlessly. Thanks to the nut and bolt holding everything securely in place, my end piece now floats just a little bit in the hole. This setup works perfectly for my xyz Davinci 1.0 PRO 3D printer. The chain I used is available at this link: http://www.mcmaster.com/#4409t21/=133dpt2 R1 I made some improvements to the design. It fits a bit tighter now, and there's less floating motion. I added a small index tab to the back piece, which makes them fit together even better now. Overall, it's just a little bit improved.
