Prius II bumper cap

The time had finally arrived for our oldest child to receive his driver's license, and we needed a dependable vehicle that would keep him safe on the road. We discovered a used 2007 Toyota Prius II in excellent mechanical condition, but its previous owners had clearly struggled with parking their garage, resulting in some minor damage. The front bumper was particularly affected, with a noticeable crack running down the plastic and a missing plug/cap. I quickly fixed the crack using J B Weld, but the hole left behind was an eyesore that needed attention. I took out my calipers to measure the hole, and on the same day, I designed and 3D printed a replacement cap. The first attempt fit well, but the clips were too flimsy. Undeterred, I created a second version that would withstand the test of time. And it worked beautifully! The before-and-after photos show the bumper's condition before and after installation, as well as how well the cap held up in various temperatures over the course of two years. The cap features an emblem with the iconic symbol for Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings, but I've provided a plain version for this upload. Feel free to use Meshmixer to add your own design or leave it as is. While the cap's cylindrical shape doesn't perfectly match the off-angle cross-section of the bumper, it does its job admirably.
