PrintrBox - a PrintrBot Simple Metal Enclosure

thingiverse

I decided to create a "simple" enclosure for my PrintrBot Simple Metal, which has been printing almost nonstop, to reduce noise and protect it from accidental damage during printing. I made some strategic cuts in the box to accommodate moving parts while the machine is active. To keep the box as compact as possible, I designed it with removable panels that allow access to critical areas. The enclosure looks great, and it should help improve the appearance of my workspace. **Printrbox Instructions** The Printrbox is made from 5 sheets of lasercutted acrylic (4mm thick) and secured using 10mm M3 screws. I'll be replacing those bright metal screws with matte black ones as soon as they arrive. The box also features four custom-printed profiles in ColorFabb Standard Black 1.75mm PLA. Each profile has a 20% infill and a resolution of 200 microns to ensure maximum strength. To enhance stability, I added additional walls vertically and horizontally (4 layers thick). Make sure to file or tap the holes before assembly, as they are extruded with a 2.5 mm diameter. To attach the box to your PrintrBot Simple Metal using M3 screws, select ones that range from 6 to 10 mm long for optimal results with 4mm acrylic panels.
