PrintrBot Simple Y-Axis Belt Conversion - Modified Bearing Mount
thingiverse
This is an adaptation of iamjonlawrence's Y-axis conversion (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:180146) belt version for the PrintrBot Simple. The original design had issues with bearing pillars that couldn't handle tightened belts. So, a part was designed to reinforce the tops of bearings, but some hollow space in pillars was filled for more strength. This untested modification requires longer screws than the original and needs careful screw selection to avoid wood torque on the part. A top brace was also designed to act as a shim for extra screw length (edit in OpenSCAD). The author has since added a version with clearance for nylock nuts, which is working well on their PrintrBot Simple. They highly recommend checking out iamjonlawrence's profile for more Simple improvements. For printing, use PLA, 0.2mm layers, 30% infill, and support (grind or drill relief holes if screw extends past nut). The top brace can also serve as a shim and brace with different thicknesses available in STL files.
