Printrbot Simple X-axis Upgrade 296mmx227mm!
thingiverse
I can print on the area marked with blue tape. I need longer rods for the Y-axis to take full advantage of my 296mm x 227mm x 180mm print bed size. The same printer was used for all parts, but a build volume upgrade took it from 100mm x 180mm x 180mm to its current capacity. The problem is that the aluminum is either not flat or the bed is sagging, making leveling hard. Using a heat bed PCB from makerfarm taped with kapton tape makes it harder to achieve a smooth bed. Parts Needed: 12 M3x16 bolts (Red) 17 M3x20 bolts (Blue) 2 M3x12 bolts (can be slightly smaller) (Green) GT2 Belts and 20T pulleys 8 M3 locknuts x8 (more can be used if wanted) Build platform 4 608 skateboard bearings 2 8mm Linear motion rods, 406mm in length (longer or shorter for a bigger build surface) For the build platform I used a 12x12in, 1/8in thick 6061 aluminum plate. I bought it from speedymetals.com. The plan was to cut it down to a 10x10 inch platform but decided to use it all when it arrived. I used some parts taken from iamjonlawrence's Timing Belt X GT2 and Printrbot Simple V2. TensionBlockYGT2.STL MotorMountXGT2.STL BearingCap608.STL can be found at thingiverse.com. For my Y axis extension I am using iamjonlawrence's Printrbot Simple, 300mm Y Axis-No Sag! found here. If you have any questions let me know!
