I finally figured out why no one had made a printable XY upgrade set yet. So I took matters into my own hands to get this started. The following pieces (and parts list) will give you just under 12x12 inches of printable space, depending on how/where you decide to mount the bed onto these pieces. You can use either smaller or bigger beds, but belt and rod sizes may need adjusting accordingly. You're going to have to experiment with M211 settings to set the XY size correctly, since the default firmware locks it out completely. That's why I included some modified firmware here. Parts you'll require are: X rods: http://www.mcmaster.com/#6112k45 Y rods: http://www.mcmaster.com/#6112K46 Plate: http://www.mcmaster.com/#86825k11 You're also going to need some GT2 belt - maybe something like this will work: http://www.adafruit.com/products/1184 It would be a good idea to grab: Some high-temperature felt for your bed placement on the printed pieces, similar to this item here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/361254493104?lpid=82&chn=ps Also remember to print some stability feet. There are many designs out there; just one of them is from matrix-precision.com which offers bigger ones too. Remainder to-do: Design Y axis mounting bracket - or you could try using Mach-Chris's work found at http://www.matrix-precision.com/pages/downloads One last thing, I highly recommend getting the Z axis upgrade available here: http://www.matrix-precision.com/ , considering it might decrease your build height. (Consider buying his XY upgrade while you're at it - It might not be as fun.)
