Printrbot Simple Metal OctoPi Rig
thingiverse
This Thing listing is a conversion of my original OctoPi Rig, exclusively tailored to work with the Printrbot Simple Metal. This rig relies on the Raspberry Pi 3 and a Logitech C170 webcam. To build this OctoPi Rig, you'll need these components along with a MicroSD card of at least 4GB. You can freely download the software image required from the Octoprint website. I highly recommend watching their video tutorial while following the installation instructions provided on their site. The rig includes a case designed for the Raspberry Pi 3, a GoPro-style mount for the Logitech webcam, and GoPro-style corner mounts for the Printrbot Simple Metal's print bed. There are two versions of the corner mount: one holds the camera mount at a 45-degree angle relative to the print bed, while the other version positions it at a 30-degree angle. You must decide which version of the camera mount to use based on your printer's print bed size. Stock beds typically have square shapes, requiring the 45-degree camera mount for optimal positioning of the Logitech c170 webcam. Upgrade print bed kits with rectangular designs benefit from the 30-degree camera mount, as it captures the extended print bed within frame. Happy Printing & Enjoy!
