Printrbot Simple Metal Locking Extruder Handle

This is an extruder handle designed to remain in both open and closed positions, thereby eliminating the need for manual support during filament changes on your Printrbot Simple Metal. The idea for this design emerged from danmar's original extruder handle; however, upon further consideration, I realized that the existing handle would obstruct the mounting area for my RPi camera for Octoprint, leading to interference issues when testing the leveling of the Simple's bed. A potential solution came into view as I endeavored to shorten danmar's handle, but even this revised version threatened to collide with my RPi camera. Consequently, a fresh perspective led me to develop an innovative Locking mechanism for the handle. This latest iteration not only secures itself in both open and closed states but also spares clearance from striking the RPi camera. The design encompasses a versatile dust filter, originally conceived by Creative Tools (depicted in the attached photos). One configuration of the handle incorporates this ingenious filter.
