I'm guessing many Printrbot owners share my plight - aching fingertips. That's where this clever tool comes in: the Finger Flobber, a ingenious invention designed to reduce finger strain when printing. Made to fit comfortably over a standard aluminum arm, the Finger Flobber has a large finger rest at its tip. This thoughtful design feature distributes pressure evenly across your fingertip, allowing for longer periods of uninterrupted printing. This nifty accessory is perfect for multi-color prints or frequent filament swaps. Its benefits are particularly evident when printing small details that require precise control and consistent force. I modelled the Finger Flobber using AutoCAD to create a custom-designed solution that maximizes functionality while minimizing discomfort. The following print settings helped me achieve optimal results: - Printed at 208 degrees Celsius on my Printrbot Simple Metal with Repetier Host control software. - Used Slic3r for slicing and modified the standard Mtlconfig. settings to fine-tune performance. By modifying a few critical parameters, I significantly improved print quality: - Increased top and bottom layer count from 3 to 5 to achieve enhanced stability. - Boosted infill density from 20% to 40%, ensuring a robust internal structure. Once printed, carefully snap off the part from the support base using a slight force. Remove the supports that were attached between the print and the aluminum arm using a hobby knife or fine-grit sandpaper. Remove the screw for the spring adjuster, take out the spring, and discard any fuzz that might have accumulated inside the part. Don't worry; there should be very little left. Next, press the Finger Flobber firmly onto the aluminum arm until it's in place. Be gentle, as the device needs to be snugly fitted to function correctly. Now, put everything back together: slide in the spring first, then add the screw, and lastly, attach the nut. Hand tighten the screw before adjusting the tension by hand. And there you have it - the perfect solution for pain-free printing.
