Yes, another upgrade for Printrbot Simple Metal enthusiasts. I sought a spool holder that would offer a vertical orientation, centered precisely above the bars, compactness, solidity, and minimal friction. Furthermore, it had to be incredibly simple to operate, capable of supporting large spools, and visually appealing. This one can accommodate spools up to ~90mm wide and with a radius of 110mm. Initially, I started with a 32mm PVC pipe that was available and used that as the primary axis. As a result, the rotation is nearly frictionless, allowing the spool to rotate in both directions depending on the movement of the Y-axis. If you do not possess a 32 mm PVC pipe, an equivalent STL file for printing is conveniently provided. For added stability under the main section, I created collars that are now included. The primary part includes screw holes designed for M3 screws. I utilised these collars in my first printed iteration (as shown in a photo), but this revised version has a tighter tolerance, rendering the collars unnecessary; nonetheless, they are still incorporated for added flexibility. Additionally, adapters for eSUN spools and the 32mm PCV axis, as well as centreing rings, are available for comprehensive support. The instructions advise that a test piece with bar holes is included, permitting you to swiftly print it and verify your printer's calibration settings specifically for printing this spool holder. This test piece should perfectly fit over the vertical bars, just like the demonstration image, without exerting any pressure.
