Here is the simplest mount for a 40mm (Or any size) cooling fan on the extruder of a Printrbot Simple Metal: a direct drive extruder that gets toasty and partially melts filament before it reaches the hot end - just like yours! It printed in 14 minutes flat. This mount includes a recessed, properly sized hole for the nut which fits flush. You need this part - trust me! It works flawlessly with no fuss or hassle whatsoever, allowing for maximum pivot room. If you don't have it already, now's your chance to download and enjoy. Instructions: To get the best possible results from this design, increase the size by 25.5x and print on its side. This might require a few tweaks along the way, but trust me - it'll be worth it! A total of 3 walls and 3 top/bottom layers will provide ample support for your printing endeavors, while 100% infill adds an extra layer of structural integrity to prevent collapse or warping under extreme temperatures. Using 0.3mm layers may take a bit more time upfront, but don't worry - you'll see the payoff. Some additional tools are needed: grab your trusty original screw (M3x8mm), 1-2 spare washers lying around somewhere, an M3 nut for added stability, and lastly an M3x16mm bolt for reinforcement purposes only. If by any chance those spare 'vitals' from your printrbot assembly kit are still floating about in their little baggy package, be sure to grab those too - they might come in handy after all!
