I was dealing with the issue of long prints failing on my Printrbot Simple Metal. The extruder motor seemed extremely warm, so I added a fan as several online forums recommended. My solution involved creating a mount for the fan and installing a switch to turn it on and off when not in use. rocker switch: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KD64MAK/ref=twister_B00KD64MBE 40mm fan: http://www.amazon.com/Scythe-Mini-KAZE-Silent-SY124010L/dp/B000LB0M8S/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1414640192&sr=1-4&keywords=40mm+2+pin+fan I printed with Cura using default Printrbot Simple Metal settings. The fan mount attaches securely to the Y arm's existing screws. I managed to tap into the existing fan wires a short distance down the harness, but if I had to do it again, I would make the splice under the unit's base.
