During lengthy prints using my Printrbot Simple, I noticed that my extruder would skip due to motor issues rather than filament jams. Upon community suggestion, I tested installing a fan directed at the motor for cooling purposes. Post-installation, my motor no longer skipped. The fan I used and found effective is this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RD0RDU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1. To secure the mount, I utilized existing y-arm bolts and connected the fan's wire by inserting its pins 6 inches down the wire harness from the connector.
