I ripped out the wires from two automotive LED lights and unsoldered the ends to reveal the exposed pads. Then, I connected them in parallel to the extruder fan circuit on my printrbot board, which automatically switches the LEDs on whenever the extruder temperature exceeds 60 degrees Celsius or so, and switches them off again once it cools down.
