Printrbot simple metal 1403 Bowden Conversion
thingiverse
So I need to upgrade my Printrbot Simple Metal with a Bowden extruder because the existing setup is too heavy and produces an unacceptably poor surface finish. My plan is to install a double Bowden system, but for now, I'm taking it one step at a time. Stay tuned for updates on new parts designed specifically for this outdated machine, which I'm determined not to let die. Not finding any suitable setups online was a major obstacle, and many of the extruders I came across were either poorly designed or excessively complex. The idea of using a standard Ubis ceramic hotend as a reference point was appealing, but since I haven't installed it yet, I've been using my UBIS 13s instead. I'll be updating both the parts and photos once the project is complete. One notable aspect of this endeavor is that there are no existing objects like these available on any STL repository, including Yeggi. This design was created entirely from scratch using Tinkercad. Feel free to edit it online at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/0nfIZBTI8af or check out the accompanying adapter for the Printrbot Metal UBIS hotend at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/1nH26VJmKXZ-printrbot-metal-ubis-hotend-bowden-adapter. As this is my first design from the ground up, I welcome any and all feedback – brutally honest or otherwise.
